Tutoring Needs
• From planning to completion, I will help guide you through the essay writing process to ensure the quality of a finished product for expository, personal, opinion, literary, comparative, and research style essays.
• I will assist you in analyzing the text or concepts, so that you become skilled and more comfortable in developing your own thoughts.
Editing and Revising
• Editing and revising all assignments is crucial to achieve overall success. I will assist you through the process, plus I will also edit your final products prior to submission, as well I will work with you to ensure you meet the deadlines and due dates set out by your classsroom teacher.
Literature Comprehension
• Reading comprehension is a significant component to the English curriculum. I will assist you to think critically and develop your own ideas about the literature of study (novels, short stories, Shakespearian plays, poetry). I will also read your literature of study, so that I can help you gain a further understanding and better prepare you for in-class discussions and expectations.
Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT)
• The OSSLT can be a stressful test for all grade 10 students, as it is an expectation for earning your high school diploma. I will work with you and give you the straegies to ensure that you pass each area of the OSSLT (multiple choice, short answer, writing a news report, writing an opinion piece, and reading comprehension).
Report Writing
• Report writing is often an expectation in College level courses in order to prepare you for the post-secondary experience. I will work with you to follow the structure for writing reports in order to achieve success.
Research and Citation
• Sometimes it is difficult to discern what is credible information and how to decide what is relevant to include in your research papers and presentations. Also, it is important that you avoid plagiarism at all costs, and thus I will teach you how to properly paraphrase and summarize and cite researched information, so that your essays and presentations flow and engage your audience.
Oral Presentations and Seminars
• Presenting in front of your peers and teacher can often be daunting and stressful. I will help you develop your ideas, plan, organize, and inject creativity, so that you feel more confident in the preparation and delivery of your presentations.
